Zombie Survival
Survive endless waves of zombies in this top-down arena shooter. Enemies swarm in from all sides, and your character auto-attacks anything within range — your job is to keep moving and avoid getting surrounded.
Each zombie that reaches you costs one HP. Lose all 5 and it's game over. Waves grow larger and faster as your score climbs, so stay alert.
How to Play
- Move: WASD or Arrow Keys

About This Game
Zombie Survival is a top-down arena survivor where the enemy never stops coming. Your character fights on their own — your job is to stay alive by moving intelligently through the horde. The longer you last, the denser the crowd, until survival becomes a moment-to-moment spatial calculation.
Why We Built It
The "auto-battler survivor" format exploded in popularity because it removes the ceiling on what a player can handle — skilled movement alone can take you further than mechanical button accuracy. We built a browser version that captures that escalating pressure in a few minutes of play. Zombies fit the format perfectly: slow individually, terrifying in numbers, and universally understood as a threat.
How It Works
Zombies use simple steering behavior — each enemy calculates the direction toward the player and advances at a fixed speed. The auto-attack checks for the nearest enemy within a radius every few frames and fires a hit if one is found. Spawn intervals shrink progressively, so the total number of zombies on screen never stops growing. There's no cap — given enough time, the arena fills completely, making survival genuinely impossible past a certain point.
Tips & Strategy
- Move in wide arcs around the outer edge of the arena. The center becomes a kill zone as zombie density grows.
- Thin out clusters by pulling zombies into a trail behind you, then circling back so they bunch into a column your auto-attack can process.
- Don't stop to fight — the auto-attack handles offense. Your only responsibility is positioning.
- Watch your flanks, not the horde in front of you. The zombies you can see aren't the problem; the ones wrapping around your sides are.
Ideas for Improvement
- Weapon variety — different attack patterns like shotgun spread, chain lightning, or area-of-effect strikes unlocked over time.
- Safe zones — brief spotlight areas that stun zombies within them, giving the player a 5-second breather.
- Mutation system — every 30 seconds, choose between two passive upgrades like faster movement or wider attack radius.
- Survival leaderboard — a localStorage-stored timer that shows how long you've personally lasted in your best run.
